“Pietro Canonica and Atatürk” workshop

The Italian Cultural Center celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic with the “Pietro Canonica and Atatürk” workshop on November 3.
As part of the 100th anniversary of the Republic, the Italian Cultural Center (Istanbul), in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy and the Municipality of Rome, is organizing a workshop focusing on the work of Italian sculptor Pietro Canonica, who created some of the most famous statues of Atatürk, in the early years of the Turkish Republic.

Sculptor Pietro Canonica is of great importance in the artistic history of our country with the statue of Atatürk in front of the Ethnography Museum in Ankara and the statue of Atatürk in marshal uniform in Victory Square; the Republic Monument in Taksim Square in Istanbul and the statue of Atatürk on horseback in Cumhuriyet Square in Izmir.
